FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Minister Match Releases "The Search Committee Handbook"

A step-by-step guide to a proven hiring process for the churches of Christ.

Cookeville, Tennessee - June 6, 2015 – Minister Match today released their first book written by company founder Don Viar. This new handbook expands upon the principles outlined in The Minister Hiring Process released this past April. The book provides practical step-by-step guidance on how to hire a minister within the church of Christ fellowship.

“While struggling through a minister search at my home congregation in 2014, I realized the great need for a structured hiring process within the church,” said Viar.  This book teaches a search committee how to find, evaluate and hire ministers in a way that is consistent with the church governance model used by most church of Christ congregations.  The goal is to help congregations attract great candidates and make better hiring decisions that lead to long term ministry tenures and greater stability in local congregations.

Beyond the information in the handbook, the company also announced the release of over 40 document templates that bring The Minister Hiring Process to life.  These templates cover topics such as interview questions, meeting agendas, and correspondence with candidates. Each template is discussed in detail within the Handbook and available for a free download from the Minister Match website(www.MinisterMatch.com/Template).

The Search Committee Handbook is available for sale on the Minister Match website (www.MinisterMatch.com/Handbook) as well as at many leading retailers such as Amazon.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Minister Match Publishes Free Minister Hiring Process

Cookeville, Tennessee - April 1, 2015 – Minister Match is pleased to announce the release of a new resource for church Search Committees called the Minister Hiring ProcessTM. The Minister Hiring Process is a highly structured and proven search methodology that gives the churches of Christ a blueprint for finding and hiring their next minister.

In the past, Search Committees have been asked by their Elders to figure out the hiring process on their own. The result has often been a chaotic, poorly structured hiring experience that resulted in poor hiring decisions and short minister tenures. ”We based our process on the same proven process used by corporations and universities for more than 30 years," says Don Viar, founder of Minister Match. "We simply adapted it to fit the unique environment of hiring within the churches of Christ."

The Minister Hiring Process is composed of 5 phases designed to take the Committee through the search planning process, the development of a candidate pool and a structured selection process. Once the Committee has a single Nominee, the rest of the process teaches you how to introduce the candidate and congregation to each other and bring the new minister on board in a way that ensures their long term success.

The Minister Hiring Process is a free resource for anyone that might benefit from its use. You can download a free Overview of the process at www.MinisterMatch.com/minister-hiring-process. We also offer a range of free and paid training solutions to help congregations master the process which are available at www.MinisterMatch.com/training.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Minister Match Launches New Staffing Service Focused on Churches of Christ

Cookeville, Tennessee - November 1, 2014 – Unique service focused on meeting the staffing needs of Church of Christ congregations forms to help churches make better hiring decisions.

Founder, Don Viar, perceived a need to help congregations conduct better minister searches with deeper and richer candidate pools while serving on a search committee in his local congregation.

“There simply hasn’t been a resource like this within the Restoration Movement,” says Mr. Viar, “to serve as the central community for ministers and congregations to connect with each other.”

We estimate that more than 200 ministerial searches are conducted each year within the Church. With more preachers retiring than we are graduating from our universities and schools of preaching, the supply of available ministers is shrinking.

Mr. Viar feels that better networking, training, support and tools for search committees will lead to longer minister tenures and ultimately healthier and more stable congregations.

“With a combination of free and paid services, Minister Match has the resources to help every congregation achieve better results with their next hire. Churches can choose one of three paths: 1) Use our free Search Process Tutorial to conduct your own search, 2) Pay a small fee to search our Minister Profile Database and access our tools, or 3) engage with us in a Guided Search to facilitate a search on their behalf.”

Don Viar serves as a coach, advisor, and confidant to church leaders across North America. He is available for discussion about your staffing needs between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm Central Standard Time, seven days a week.

ABC Blocks

Your congregation has just hired a minister, and it seems like they are the perfect fit. Congratulations! There is one more step to the process, though, and it is just as important as the process of finding the right minister. You might have heard people refer to how the “first hundred days” of someone’s job usually sets the tone for their entire career with that organization. The same is true with ministers. Just as your congregation is going through a major transition, so is your new minister. The first few months of a job are a stressful time, and it is the job of the elders and search committee to help your new minister through their transition.

We refer to this as the “On-Boarding Stage.” Since the “first hundred days” is so important to the rest of a minister’s career with your congregation, we believe this stage is one of the keys to reducing minister turnover in the church. In this post, we want to talk about a few of the things that a new minister needs from their congregation during this transition period. We will refer to them as the ABC’s of the On-Boarding Phase.
